HVScompass company history
In 1996, Alan Benjamin formed Compass Design Ltd. with the goal of building a design firm to create unique hospitality interior solutions while fully understanding the business and financial aspects of the hospitality industry.
In January 2000 Mr. Benjamin partnered with Steve Rushmore of HVS International, changing the company name to HVScompass Interior Design. In January 2001 another partnership was formed, this time with Jonathan Nehmer + Associates, Inc., an architecture and project management firm based near Washington, D.C. At this time, an office was opened in Rockville, Maryland. Since the opening of the Washington, D.C. area office, the firm has grown rapidly. In November 2001 the Phoenix, Arizona office opened, and August 2005 brought the opening of the Boston, Massachusetts office.
Today, HVScompass Interior Design employs numerous designers within its offices and has designed hundreds of hotels, resorts, restaurants, and assisted living facilities throughout the United States and abroad. HVScompass Interior Design has successfully differentiated itself as the hospitality design firm that provides the finest design solutions combined with accurate and timely specifications and budgets. HVScompass understands how time and money maximize an owner’s return on investment.
